Get orientated with a private Zoom class with Michelle one month prior to class. by making a selection from one of ten sample image Michelle is providing. During your private Zoom session with Michelle, you will have the opportunity to discuss image choices, color, value, materials and techniques. This private Zoom class will give you the confidence to know what to bring and how to start.
Then in May travel to Hidden Mosaic in Rockwall Texas and share four fun-filled days of mosaic making at Barbara Dybala’s lovely studio, along with great food and wonderful company. During this 4-day workshop, glass mosaic instructor and artist Michelle Sider will guide you through her distinctive technique of creating a stunning textural landscape mosaic. Drawing upon many years of experience teaching art, Michelle provides a memorable learning opportunity with plenty of in-depth tips and feedback in a creative and supportive environment.
The in- person workshop will begin with a PowerPoint presentation, detailed instructions, and a demonstration. Reach the next level in your artwork as Michelle guides you through color and value, choices, andamento, and more to add textural and thoughtful design elements to your mosaic. Be prepared to come away with an exquisite and unique mosaic!

ABOUT INSTRUCTOR:
Michelle Sider is a sought-after mosaic instructor and an award-winning Metro Detroit-based mixed media artist who explores the world through glass mosaics and paintings, using art as a means of helping others. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit, she has dedicated 46 years to teaching, counseling, artwork, and community projects. Her art has won awards in numerous exhibitions, and the Twisted Fish Gallery in Elk Rapids, MI, Water Street Gallery in Douglas, MI, Water Street Gallery- Grand Rapids, and Ambleside Gallery in Greensboro, N.C. currently represent her. Sider is a member of CMA2, SAMA, MAM, DFABC, Embrace Creatives, BAMM, MAANZ, and Detroit Artists Market. She has co-authored and illustrated two books that offer comfort and hope to those facing grief and loss. Her art studio is in Huntington Woods, Michigan.

Advanced mosaic artists meet, share ideas, and create mosaics on Friday mornings. Their exhibition, “My Mosaic Passion,” is shown on Mother’s Day in the Studio Gallery. This ongoing class is sold out due to the long-standing group’s fellowship and love of making mosaics. But there is always a need for substitute artists. If you have taken the beginning mosaic class or have taken mosaic lessons, you may be a candidate for a substitution position.
